Description

BOMBFEST is a 4 player party game that features blocks, toys, bombs, and explosions. It’s like sumo wrestling with explosive! The last player standing earns the most points, and the player with the most points at the end wins!

History

BOMBFEST’s first incarnation was created in early 2015. Zac Pierce envisioned a medieval-inspired, co-op adventure for 4 players. Back in those days, players could swing swords and shoot arrows, and bombs were an afterthought. This game was simple and enjoyable, but it was never exactly what Zac wanted.

BOMBFEST, then titled Well-Wishes, was shown to a panel of judges at OGDE 2015 (now GDEX). The competition was to pitch a title or potential title for the chance at winning a Unity 5 license. BOMBFEST, then titled “Well-Wishes”, got one resounding piece of feedback: the bombs were really fun. Zac was awarded with the Unity license and was spurred to create an even better game.

BOMBFEST was born in the winter of 2015 and has been in active development ever since. It was featured at GDEX 2016 and won the Accessibility, Crowd Favorite, and Best In Show awards that year. (The team would later win Crowd Favorite the following year, as well!) Since then, the BOMBFEST team has grown to feature the talents of Marisa Hike and contractors like Matthew Trowbridge, Jennifer Virnelson, and Brian Freeland.

In 2018, Zac officially partnered with Whitethorn Digital as a publisher to bring BOMBFEST to consoles. In the same year, Sudden Event Studios was formed. Whitethorn and Sudden Event spent months working on certifying the game for consoles and hosting not one, but two KickStarters. While the first Kickstarter fell short of its goal, the team was undeterred, and a month later launched what would become a successful Kickstarter to raise funding for marketing the game.

BOMBFEST was officially released on January 31st for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through Steam.
